Bear Market Screener
In this step, you're setting up the bearish screener, which follows the exact same structure as the bullish screener, but with the criteria reversed. You're identifying stocks aligned with sector-level weakness and confirming that all signals support a downside move.
What You Do
1. Go to the Screener Inside OVTLYR
Navigate to the Screener section of the platform.
2. Set Up the Bearish Screener Criteria
Apply the following filters:
○ Sector Filter: Only include sectors that are bearish (from your breadth scan in 3.3).
○ Backtest: Must show a positive backtest result.
○ Volume: Stocks must have an average daily volume greater than 1 million shares.
○ Signal: Must have an active Sell Signal.
○ Market Cap: Only include stocks with a market cap greater than $20.
○ Heat Map:
▪ Heat Map value must be between 10 to 100.
▪ The Heat Map must be moving down (indicating increasing fear).
○ Chart Overlay:
▪ The chart must show a red overlay indicating:
▫ 10 EMA < 20 EMA
▫ Price < 50 EMA
This bearish screener gives you a filtered list of candidates that are aligned with downward momentum, weakening sentiment, and bearish technical structure. Just like before, once you've built it, you can save this screener template inside OVTLYR for quick access anytime.
