Upgrading Your Plan Over Time
Introduction
A trading plan isn’t static. It evolves with your experience, your edge, and changing market conditions. This final lesson shows you how to upgrade your strategy over time while keeping it disciplined and repeatable.
1. Keep What Works
● Review your trades and identify patterns in what’s succeeding.
● Keep setups that consistently perform well.
● If a checklist item shows up in most of your best trades that stays.
Your plan should reflect what actually helps you win, not what sounds good.
2. Remove What Doesn’t
● If a rule isn’t improving your win rate or clarity, remove it.
● Avoid overcomplicating the plan with redundant or unused steps.
● Streamline your checklist so it remains sharp and executable.
3. Add With Intention
● When you learn something new, test it before making it part of your plan.
● Use forward testing (real trades) or backtesting (historical data).
● Only add rules that improve your consistency, confidence, or results.
Don’t add indicators or steps just because someone else uses them.
4. Track Everything
● Use your journal to record changes to your plan.
● Note when and why you adjusted your checklist or rules.
● This creates a clear evolution of your strategy over time.

5. Stay Focused on Simplicity
● Complexity doesn’t equal edge, clarity does.
● A clean plan = faster execution and fewer emotional errors.
● Ask: “Would I be able to follow this plan if I had one minute to decide?”
6. Revisit Monthly
● Once a month, block time to review:
○ Trade logs
○ Wins and losses
○ Plan adherence
○ Any changes to market behavior
● Make adjustments based on data, not emotions or boredom.
